Okay, it’s been two years since graduation and I’m still on the prowl to start my career in writing. Living in South Florida doesn’t help me much as far as the industry I really want to get into unless I speak and write Spanish fluently. Most of the advertising agencies, TV stations, and productions companies are either looking for people with 5+ years of experience or as I mentioned someone bilingual. Sometimes I feel as if my B.A in Multi-Media doesn’t prove anything. How am I supposed to get experience if companies don’t want to hire recent grads? Most of my experiences have been through internships, part-time gigs and contracts. I believe that I am capable of getting the job done and done well. But what do I hear most of the time? “OVER QUALIFIED” or “NEED MORE EXPERIENCE” I’m pretty much fed up with those phrases. I don’t want to ever hear them again. Yes, they were very discouraging at some point but I just realized that I am a person of vision. I’ve been blessed to create, produce, and multiply. So just because some company doesn’t want to hire me to write, THAT’S NOT GOING TO STOP ME FROM WRITING!
