A sister-hood is more than a sorority
It's a commitment to accountability
quality friendships
with a willingness to take on the responsibility
Of being their for a sistah
No matter what
Accepting one another
with flaws in all
But still willing to help shape
the feminine mind
And embrace each other
because we are all
one of a kind
A sister-hood is about uniting the differences
we all share
and talking about our experiences
So we can all compare
whether young or old
big or small
black or white
latino or haitian
when true sisters get together
we can stop all the hatin'
and discriminatin'
A sister-hood is not about whose got what
but who can give of themselves
a shoulder to cry on
an arm to lean on
someone to talk to
on a two way pager or the new i-phone
or sitting at the dinner table in their own home
someone to trust and confide in
someone who won't judge you because of the mess your in
But strong enough to knock some sense into ya
Cuts the fluff and gets straight to the truth
Soul sistas
with latitude
not attitude
filled with the spirit
and still getting jiggy with it
Sister to sister
that's how we role
Sister-hood forever
With the Lord in control.
